  • Identify and lodge defects, and conduct any re-testing required.
  • Build and maintain relationships to ensure effective on-going stakeholder engagement with projects, and support business areas with user acceptance testing.
  • Contribute to status reports for the testing they are responsible for.
  • Identification and highlighting of risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
  • Work closely with staff from across the organisation, both technical and business, who are involved in projects.
  • Liaise with other team members as part of multi-disciplinary project teams as required, ensuring knowledge transfer and providing input and advice on testing.
  • Provide technical expertise in meetings with software and/or hardware suppliers, and with external organisations.
  • Provide input to progress reports and contribute specialist knowledge to the Test Manager.
  • Manage and prioritise personal workload of testing tasks, often working with minimum supervision, within agreed timescales to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Monitor progress against agreed milestones and, in consultation with the test lead, take remedial action to address slippage.
  • Some duties may be urgent and reactive, e.g. providing technical assistance to solve critical project/service issues.
  • Develop and carry out quality assurance testing on software, working either individually or as part of a wider multi-disciplinary project team, typically working under pressure to meet business deadlines.
  • Contribute to projects in a range of different areas in accordance with established project methodology, standards and guidelines, e.g. peer testing, supporting the resolution of business and design issues, providing detailed task estimates as part of agreed estimation process.
  • Respond to changing requirement specifications advising of likely impact on workload and deadlines.
  • Provide specialist technical input to resolve technically complex or critical support issues when required.
