Overview

DWP. Digital with Purpose. We are looking for outstanding Test Engineers to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital, to assist in the design of Infrastructure services in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Demonstrable experience of building and delivering comprehensive, robust, and reliable automated tests to provide full coverage of business requirements, using Python and tools such as Pytest, Playwright, or equivalent.
  • Proven ability and evidence of being able to design, build and maintain effective tests that validate data quality, movement, and transformation, adopting shift-left approach, including integration tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience of non-functional testing, such as performance testing using test data, with knowledge of appropriate tools and standards, and where to apply them.
  • Influential, and able to communicate with other teams and share technical resources, knowledge and lessons learned.
  • Practical experience and able to ensure that usability, accessibility, security, stability and capacity are embedded in the development of citizen services.

These two roles are specifically in Benefit Supporting Services and Data & Analytics. If you're passionate about quality, automation, and making a real difference this could be the role for you.

You’ll be part of a major transformation programme, helping to modernise legacy systems and pave the way for future innovation. Working in agile teams, you’ll design and implement smart testing strategies for large-scale digital services that millions rely on every day. You’ll also mentor others, manage testing risks and share your insights with a wide range of stakeholders.

This is a chance to lead, influence and shape how we test, all while improving services that support some of the most vulnerable people in society.

Location

You’ll join us in one of our digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working

Hybrid model – you’ll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay

Up to £52,347.

Pension

Employer contributions worth 28.97%, over £12,000 per year.

Holidays

26 days rising to 31 days over time. Up to 3 extra days off a month on flexitime.
