We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic transport planning professional to join our growing transport planning and modelling team in Bristol. You will be integrated within a range of transport planning projects and contribute to the continued development of Mott MacDonald’s market presence and growth in the South-West and across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of collaborative project teams
  • Provide briefings and deliver technical work for senior staff and clients
  • Oversee budgets, tasks and projects aligned with your ability and interests
  • Proposal and report writing
  • Identify new client opportunities and support business development
  • Collaborate with the team to meet client needs across opportunities, including developing innovative technical solutions
  • Mentor junior team members and support their development

Candidate specification

As a Transport Planning professional, you should have post-graduate experience in the transport planning industry with knowledge of the current UK transport policy context and the ability to apply it in projects and client interactions.

Essential

  • Degree in Transport Planning, Town Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or related field
  • Membership (or working towards) of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIHT or TPS) with aim of chartered status (e.g., TPP)
  • Proven experience in transport planning including supporting bidding and winning work
  • Familiarity with transport planning tools (e.g., TRICS, junction modelling software such as Junctions 9, LinSig, GIS)
  • Strong understanding of planning policy frameworks (e.g., NPPF) and local development plans
  • Excellent report writing and stakeholder communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills (Excel, Power BI, etc.)

Desirable

  • MSc or post-graduate qualification in a transport/urban design related subject
  • People management and/or project management experience
  • Knowledge of the regional transport planning market and local clients
