We are looking for a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Summerwood Vets on a full-time or part-time basis. This is a great opportunity for a like-minded individual to join our close-knit group, who put pet care at the centre of everything they do. This role will entail all standard vet responsibilities including surgery and consults.

Rota patterns to suit you – No weekends or OOH

This is a full or part time position. Work life balance is important to us therefore we are open to discussing working days/hours that suit you and there are no weekend or OOH requirements. Typically our working hours are between 8:30am - 6:30pm over 4 days, however we are open to considering 5 days per week with shorter days if this is preferred.

Summerwood is a busy, small animal practice in Blackwood, South Wales, with a mix of entertainment options, from the cinema to gyms, shopping spots, and a lively pub scene. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the surrounding scenery and hiking opportunities.

Our location provides easy access to Cardiff and Newport, as well as the Brecon Beacons and the Cwmcarn Drive. Local transport options include a bus station and nearby rail link.

Practice facilities

• Well-equipped practice with 4 consult rooms (one brand new), separate cat and dog kennels, waiting areas, theatre and prep room
• Full dental suite with dental x-ray, dental machine, x-ray machine, laparoscopic spay equipment, ultrasound, Idexx lab equipment

Team and development

• Head Vet, 5 Vets (Feline Certificate holder), 9 RVNs (Anaesthesia certificate holder & Physiotherapy certificate holder), 1 SVN, 4 receptionists; supported by Practice Manager
• Strong encouragement for certificates; opportunities to pursue development across the group
• Research funding opportunities; Care Fund of £1250 per Vet per year
