Overview

VP Engineering, AI-Driven B2B SaaS (Series B)

Join an AI-native B2B company that has just raised Series B funding and is hiring a VP Engineering to lead the next phase of growth. This is a true VPE role (not CTO), reporting to the CEO, and is responsible for scaling the engineering organisation from current size to 30+ over the next 12–18 months.

The Mission

  • Tackling complex engineering challenges - The company builds advanced tools that help engineers address problems once considered too difficult or resource-intensive using conventional approaches. These solutions span performance optimisation, safety testing, and advanced materials.
  • Speeding up innovation cycles - The technology shortens the journey from concept to launch, equipping engineers with AI-driven capabilities for faster progress across product development.
  • Harnessing AI and data to drive decisions - Intelligent, data-led models learn, adapt, and predict to anticipate issues, refine designs, and unlock opportunities early in the process.

The Role

As VP Engineering you will own:

  • Tech Roadmap & Execution: Define, drive, and deliver the roadmap in alignment with product and company strategy.
  • Team Leadership & Growth: Attract, hire, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Engineering Excellence: Instil strong architectural direction, lean processes, and delivery discipline across teams.

You’ll be both strategic and hands-on, leading from the front technically and organisationally.

Ideal Profile

  • 12–15 years total experience: Started out as a hands-on engineer; transitioned into leading teams, then managers.
  • Built it: Deep technical experience in at least two of the following categories:
    • Software Engineering (Cloud/SaaS)
    • Scale exposure: led engineering orgs of 30+ and experienced scale-up growth on both technical and commercial sides
  • Outcome-driven: Understands engineering as a lever for business value – makes tradeoffs based on customer impact, ROI, and velocity.

What We’re Looking For

Technical & Execution Leadership

  • Architecture-level clarity and technical rigor.
  • Repeatable, high-quality releases and platform reliability.
  • Data-driven accountability with KPIs and decision frameworks.
  • Effective prioritisation with limited information.

Team & Culture Building

  • Builds strong engineering management capability from the ground up.
  • Motivates and aligns teams through a compelling tech vision and execution cadence.
  • Creates a safe, high-trust environment where feedback and collaboration are the norm.
  • Attracts top-tier talent and elevates performance of existing teams.

Executive Presence

  • High-energy, high-ownership operator capable of raising the heartbeat of the organisation.
  • Proven in delivering complex, high-stakes initiatives.
  • Balances intuition with data and drives action amidst ambiguity.

Bonus

  • Experience in a company that has scaled or exited.
  • Strong cross-functional instincts — partnerships with product, data, and commercial leads.

If you’re a technically credible leader who’s scaled teams, delivered platforms, and wants to shape a high-impact AI product company from the ground up - this is for you.
