Quantinuum is seeking to hire a backend engineer for our Cambridge-based cloud platform, Quantinuum Nexus. Our team aims to support the effort of quantum researchers at every stage of an experiment, making working on quantum computers as easy as sending an email.

As an engineer in the Nexus team, you will contribute code to the various services that make up Quantinuum Nexus. Working as part of a small team you will help to define, estimate and contribute to technical tasks that all feed into one feature. You will work on a range of services, written in both Python and Rust, built using modern web development tools that will provide a range of challenges and learning opportunities.

It is less important to have experience with our exact stack than it is to be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, we’re facing new challenges every day and are looking for a candidate that can keep up. We aim to provide opportunities for engineers to collaborate together, sharing experience and skills as well as offering some protected time for working on your own skills. Over time the role can grow to fit the engineer, providing more opportunities to work with other teams or customers, lead technical projects or be more involved in planning and organisation.

Must have:

• Experience of working with Python or comparable high level programming languages
• Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
• Willingness to commute or relocate to Cambridge
• Degree level in a relevant subject to the role

It will be beneficial to have experience with

• Python web frameworks like FastAPI or Django
• Rust, and specifically Diesel
• Docker
• AWS and tooling
