Claims Team Leader

New Today

Overview

Are you keen to work somewhere that’s stimulating and friendly, with loads of opportunities for growth and plenty of freedom to make a real impact? This could be the place for you!

We are looking for a Claims team leader to join us at INSHUR. We’re based in Brighton and embrace a hybrid working model, allowing you to thrive in both collaborative office settings and the comfort of your own home. You’ll have the opportunity to work remotely while also connecting with colleagues at our Brighton office at least once a week.

You’ll be working on re-inventing insurance in exciting markets across multiple territories including the UK, US, and the Netherlands, with plans to expand into new European countries.

Supported by (and reporting to) the Claims Manager, you’ll join a friendly team of 20 who focus on providing the best customer journey while handling claims with efficiency and high quality with a constant focus on our loss ratio.

We value high performance and care about making INSHUR a place where everyone is building something special, that we can all be proud of, while enjoying the ride.

What you’ll do

As a Claims Team Lead you will be responsible for managing a team of claims handlers and ensuring the efficient and high-quality resolution of claims. You will be responsible for upward reporting of work states, performance and HR-related matters to your direct line manager. You will embody a stakeholder mentality in relation to performance, outcomes and accountability.

You’ll be working on:

  • Leading, coaching, and guiding team members to consistently achieve and surpass performance goals.
  • Holding regular one-to-one meetings to review progress, give constructive feedback, and support professional development.
  • Monitoring staffing levels and actively contributing to team training and on-the-job coaching.
  • Applying creative problem-solving skills to address challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Cultivating a positive, open, and collaborative team culture across the department.

We don’t have a definite checklist of skills – our hiring process is about aptitude and passion. Don’t worry if you haven’t used a particular tool or checked off all listed skills.

That said, below is a guideline of skills that would help you succeed in this role:

  • Strong knowledge of motor insurance claims processes and the ability to guide a team through complex cases.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience motivating and developing team members to achieve performance targets.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities to handle customers, stakeholders, and third-party partners effectively.
  • Analytical mindset with confidence in using data to identify trends, improve workflows, and support decision-making.
  • Calm, solution-focused approach when managing high-pressure situations or challenging claims.

You’ll love it here if:

Thrive navigating ambiguity and finding clarity in uncertain situations. Take pride in being accountable and owning your responsibilities. Enjoy a fast-paced environment where change happens quickly. Are solutions-focused and driven to overcome challenges. Embrace resilience and adapt to setbacks with a positive attitude. Are intellectually curious, constantly seeking to learn, explore new ideas, and not afraid to question and improve your understanding.

You may not enjoy working here if:

Prefer a more structured, slow-moving environment. Feel most comfortable when tasks and processes are clearly defined from the start. Struggle with handling multiple challenges at once or adapting to frequent changes. Tend to stick strictly to your defined role and avoid contributing outside of your responsibilities.

What to expect from the process:

Screen & Intro: 30-minute video call with the Talent Team to discuss the role and your experience. First Interview: 60-minute video call with the Claims Manager and Head of Claims to delve into the role, including technical questions and an opportunity for you to ask questions. Final Interview: A 60-minute in-person interview with the Claims Manager, Head of Claims, and People Partner to assess role and team fit.

We encourage you to ask questions about the role and the company throughout the hiring process. This is an opportunity for you to interview us as much as we interview you.

What we offer

Our budget for this role is flexible and we will consider previous experience and location when agreeing on the final offer.

We offer all our employees stock options and we will contribute to your pension. We have a benefits package that supports long-term personal and professional growth and wellbeing. Here’s a sample of what this includes:
