The Opportunity for the Financial Controller

Reporting directly to the Finance Director and working closely with senior leadership, the Financial Controller will play a central role in managing group finance operations. This is a hands-on and broad role, spanning technical consolidation and statutory reporting through to business partnering, process improvement, and team leadership. You\'ll oversee financial governance across UK, European, and US entities, ensuring compliance while supporting the company\'s ambitious growth agenda. The position is hybrid, requiring three days in the Hammersmith office and two days working from home.

Key Responsibilities for the Financial Controller

• Lead group consolidation and the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts under UK GAAP, IFRS, and US GAAP.
• Own the statutory reporting process, managing external audits and ensuring all compliance deadlines are met.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and procedures to support scale and growth.
• Oversee tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions in partnership with external advisors.
• Drive the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning cycles, delivering clear insights to the Finance Director and Managing Director.
• Manage cash flow and working capital across the group, including intercompany reconciliations.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and new accounting standards.
• Build, mentor, and develop the finance team, ensuring effective performance management and succession planning.
• Partner with international stakeholders across Europe and the US, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Support strategic projects including system improvements, acquisitions, and new market entry.

What You\'ll Need to Succeed as the Financial Controller

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA) with significant post-qualification experience.
• Big 4 experience is highly desirable, particularly with exposure to multinational or FMCG clients.
• Strong technical accounting expertise, with excellent knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and US GAAP.
• Proven track record in group consolidations and multi-entity reporting.
• Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or e-commerce environments is desirable but not essential.
• Skilled in financial modelling, forecasting, and ERP/finance systems.
• Strong leadership capability, with experience managing and developing finance teams (international exposure desirable).
• Commercially astute with the ability to partner across functions and support strategic decision-making.
• Proactive and adaptable, comfortable working in a scale-up, fast-moving environment.

The Package for the Financial Controller

• Salary of £65,000 to £75,000 depending on experience.
• Hybrid working (3 days in office, 2 days remote).
