Head of Financial Reporting/Financial Controller

£90,000 - £110,000 + Car allowance + bonus | (Hybrid, 3 days in the office)

Eutopia Search is supporting a leading contracts business in the appointment of a Head of Financial Reporting/Financial Controller – a key leadership role with clear succession potential to a Director role.

This role will be pivotal in developing and maturing the finance function. You’ll lead and upskill a team of five, take ownership of all financial reporting activity, and act as the technical expert across the business.

We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ideally ACA or ACCA), most likely trained in audit, who can bring strong technical expertise combined with the confidence and credibility to influence across the senior leadership team.

The successful candidate will play a central role in driving financial visibility, control, and discipline across the organisation, while providing commercial insight to support sound decision‑making and sustainable growth.

For the right individual, there is a clear succession plan in place, with the opportunity to take on broader leadership responsibility over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of five finance professionals.
• Own all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, and audit.
• Act as the technical authority on accounting standards and governance.
• Strengthen financial controls, systems, and processes.
• Partner with the SLT to deliver meaningful financial insight and challenge.
• Drive continuous improvement and best practice across the function.

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA), ideally trained in audit.
• Strong technical reporting and accounting expertise.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence at senior level.
• Hands‑on, proactive approach with a focus on quality and improvement.
