Overview
We are the Environment Agency. We create better places for people, wildlife and the environment. We put the climate emergency at the heart of everything we do and help society adapt to environmental challenges such as flooding, drought, sea level rise and coastal change. We improve and protect the quality of our air, land and water by tackling pollution. We work with businesses to help them comply with environmental regulations and believe a healthy and diverse environment enhances people’s lives and contributes to sustainable and resilient economic growth.
This role is an amazing opportunity to drive our Geospatial development across the whole organisation, enabling our colleagues to deliver our challenging environmental ambitions. We are looking for an experienced GIS strategic thinker with a proven record of effective delivery. Our ideal candidate will combine a strong drive to modernise with a passion for improving the environment. Supporting the GIS Manager and Senior Team Leader, you’ll be one of two technical leads for the team. This involves working with colleagues across the EA, DEFRA and external partners to evolve our Geospatial Services. You’ll also work with our excellent service leads to coordinate delivery.
The Team
The National GIS Team provides Geospatial services and leads on their use in the EA. We deliver through tools including Easimap, our in-house GIS view and query tool, ArcGIS Pro and EAMaps (an ArcGIS Enterprise service). We also manage and support access to ArcGIS Online (AGOL). A joined-up, well-managed, modern suite of corporate services is essential for our users.
