About the Opportunity

The role provides the opportunity to become fluent in a wide range of environmental regulatory requirements as they apply to our clients. You will develop the skills to assess client operations for compliance, identify practical recommendations to improve performance or achieve compliance, and undertake desk-top analysis and confirmatory site visits to support our environmental compliance and permitting teams. You will support detailed technical applications for environmental permits, typically for industrial or commercial properties (e.g., data centres), with growing opportunities in the green transition space (hydrogen, EV, batteries, carbon capture). The role combines desk-based and client site-based activities, offering exposure to facilities and a strong understanding of environmental compliance and permitting from an operational perspective. Additional opportunities may include supporting the development of client environmental and sustainability management systems, and circular economy/resource management initiatives.

While the focus is Environmental Permitting, Management Systems and Compliance, graduates in this role are also expected to spend time in the Graduate ESG/EHS Due Diligence & Strategy Consultant role during their first two years to gain breadth and experience. For this role, we believe your starting point is:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Law/Policy or Chemical Engineering
  • Experience with IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Numerical competence
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent report writing skills

We don’t expect you to know everything, but you should show curiosity, take responsibility, and want to deliver high-quality work. Selection Process:

We aim to shortlist applications by early March and will invite successful candidates to an assessment centre at the beginning of April in our Birmingham office. Applications should include all required documents as described above.
