Group Financial Accountant

Location: Leicester (hybrid working)

Responsible for external reporting of the organisation and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax legislation. Day‑to‑day lead on external audit, VAT & tax matters. Supports the finance team on technical accounting matters and leads acquisition accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of group consolidated and individual companies’ financial statements for audit, working with the management accounting team.
  • Ensure all HMRC and foreign taxes are filed and paid on time, including Corporation Tax, VAT, CIS, PSA, Social Security, Class 1A.
  • Key day‑to‑day contact for the external audit.
  • Accounting for senior debt and intercompany loans.
  • Ensure accounting and tax legislation is followed and adhered to.
  • Implement significant changes in accounting standards.
  • Internal expert for accounting and tax queries from the wider finance team, leveraging external support when required, including accounting advice for projects.
  • Assist with onboarding and integration of new acquisitions as required.

Skills & Experience

  • ACA qualified accountant, trained in practice with a top‑10 firm.
  • Technically strong, with experience of group consolidations, acquisition accounting, tax and external audits.
  • Enthusiastic, driven and self‑motivated. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Confident and comfortable dealing with multiple stakeholders.
  • Reliability – responsible and dependable. Take ownership of your work and the work of your team.
  • Independence – able to manage own workload with minimum supervision.
  • Team player – works as part of a team to achieve a common goal.
  • Attention to detail – job requires being accurate in interpreting and challenging data.

Working Arrangements

Flexible hours and remote work where business needs allow. Successful candidate must work from the Leicester office two days per week, with the rest remotely.
