How you'll make an impact As Financial Controller, you'll report directly to the Group Finance Director and take ownership of group-wide financial control, reporting, and compliance. You'll ensure the integrity of financial data across multiple entities, lead the audit process, and oversee the development of a high-performing finance team. Your focus will be on strengthening controls, driving process improvements, and delivering timely, accurate reporting that supports decision-making at senior level.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the group balance sheet reconciliation process, resolving discrepancies and ensuring robust controls
  • Preparing consolidated quarterly management accounts and group reporting packs
  • Coordinating the annual audit and producing statutory accounts under UK GAAP/FRS 102
  • Reviewing VAT, PAYE and PSA submissions across the group
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with finance and operational teams
  • Embedding and enhancing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Managing and mentoring a team of two, building capability and resilience within the finance function
  • Championing continuous improvement in systems, reporting, and ledger integrity

Why our client is excited about you You're a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience in financial control, ideally gained in a group or multi-entity environment. You bring technical strength, a proactive mindset, and the ability to balance hands-on delivery with leadership responsibilities.

You'll bring:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit management
  • Experience producing consolidated accounts and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and strengthen controls
  • Leadership experience, with a track record of developing people and teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across the business
