Head of Financial Planning

Location: England & Wales (South of and including Manchester) – hybrid/Field-based with travel required

Job Type: Full-time, permanent (employed)

Salary: Up to £100,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and client base)

Ascendant Financial Services Support are hiring on behalf of a growing and ambitious financial planning firm with offices throughout England, committed to delivering high-quality, client-focused financial advice. The company has a clear strategic vision for expansion and a strong operational foundation, with an established support team and Operations Manager already in place.

As part of our continued growth, we’re looking to appoint a Head of Financial Planning – an experienced and entrepreneurial adviser ready to take the next step in their career by combining client advice with leadership and business development responsibilities.

The Opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly experienced financial planner who wants to shape the future of a growing firm while maintaining their own client relationships.

You will play a key role in leading and mentoring a team of advisers, helping them to enhance their client engagement, technical knowledge, and developing new business strategies through professional connections. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you’ll continue to manage your own clients and build new relationships through professional connections.

This role offers the freedom and autonomy of a field-based position, supported by an experienced back-office team and a collaborative leadership structure.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of advisers to maximise their potential and enhance client outcomes.
  • Provide expert financial advice to your own clients, maintaining a professional and client-first approach.
  • Build and manage professional connections to create new business opportunities for yourself and the wider firm.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager and leadership team to drive strategic growth and operational efficiency.
  • Balance leadership and personal production, ensuring you remain self-sustaining and commercially effective.
  • Uphold the firm’s reputation for integrity, professionalism, and outstanding client service.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a successful, self-sufficient financial adviser
  • A self-sustaining income stream or the ability to build one rapidly
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and people development skills
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Comfortable working independently and across multiple office locations
  • Based in England or Wales (south of and including Manchester) with flexibility to travel
  • Chartered Financial Planner status (or working towards it)
  • Previous experience in a regional or leadership capacity
  • A strong professional network or existing introducer relationships

What We Offer

  • Salary up to £100,000 and a bonus scheme.
  • The autonomy to manage your own client relationships and business development
  • Support from an established Operations Manager and dedicated back-office team
  • A collaborative environment that encourages growth, innovation, and leadership development
  • The opportunity to make a tangible impact on the firm’s direction and success

How to Apply

If you’re an experienced adviser ready to take the next step into leadership — combining hands‑on financial planning with team development and strategic influence — we’d love to hear from you.
