The role

Are you a visionary technologist ready to lead a digital revolution? Do you thrive on transforming ambitious strategies into rock solid, cutting edge infrastructure? Then join us and take the helm as our Head of Cloud and Campus Infrastructure Services!

This isn't just a management job. It's your chance to be the strategic architect of the technology that powers a leading university's entire Digital Strategy. We're looking for a senior leader to define, deliver, and manage a robust, hybrid infrastructure, spanning both our on campus core and our rapidly expanding cloud services.

Although this role is advertised as a full time post, part time applications of 0.8 fte would also be considered.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Cloud Strategy Pioneer: You will be responsible for leading the development of our university-wide technology and Cloud strategy, ensuring it supports every facet of our organizational ambition.
  • Infrastructure Visionary: You will strategically plan, deliver, and manage all IT infrastructure, ensuring maximum performance, resilience, and security.
  • Strategic Investigator: You’ll be at the forefront of tech, investigating and piloting new technologies (like AI) to identify opportunities for competitive advantage and deliver enhanced student experiences.
  • Relationship Builder: Forge effective relationships across the university and with key external partners to ensure our technology supports all organizational needs, including robust business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Risk & Prioritisation: Develop forward looking strategic and development plans, skillfully prioritising initiatives and conducting comprehensive risk assessments.

About You

You don't just understand infrastructure - you've mastered it. You have a proven track record at a senior level in complex, large scale environments and a passion for leveraging technology to achieve strategic goals.

You must have

  • Senior Leadership Track Record: Substantial, proven experience in delivering and managing cloud infrastructure services in a large, complex environment.
  • A solid understanding of the entire IT technology ecosystem: networks, telecommunications, storage, databases, servers, cloud services, and the emerging landscape of AI.
  • Digital Expertise: Extensive experience with digital information systems, service delivery, and the practical application of AI.
  • The ability to translate institutional goals into actionable, forward-looking technology strategies.

About the location

This role is based on a Hybrid working model, with the primary base being the Headington Campus.

As an Oxford Brookes employee, you will enjoy a total of a minimum of 25 days holiday, rising with your service, plus 8 Bank Holidays and additional University concessionary Days (approx 5 per year).
