Job Description

Purpose of role: The Head of Project Management will be responsible for developing the Signature Rail project management approach ensuring consistency of delivery for all customer projects. This approach should ensure the on time, on budget delivery of all projects and contribute to achieving business KPI's.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop PMO processes, project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders.
  • Create and optimise our project delivery processes to maximise successful and timely completion of projects.
  • Lead, guide and influence stakeholders regarding Project Governance and good project practices;
  • Develop and implement “Signature Project Management Process”
  • Work closely with the Head of Software to allocate resource and ensure their availability;
  • Organise and coordinate assigned resources for the successful execution of projects;
  • Develop detailed, commercial schemes of work for ongoing projects and as part of bid/tender processes
  • Analyse and manage risks in order to minimise the negative effect on projects;
  • Monitor project performance with the help of appropriate systems, tools and techniques;
  • Drive the PM team to prepare detailed project plans to track progress;
  • Oversee the timely delivery of all projects, ensuring they remain within the project scope and within budget;
  • Populate and manage relevant dashboards;
  • Manage the development of project managers;
  • Review status reports of Project Managers and address issues as appropriate;
  • Implement and Monitor Project Delivery KPIs

Person Specification (skills And Experience Required)

  • Proven experience as a Senior Project or Key Account Manager
  • Process orientated with a focus on systemic continual improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver concurrent complex projects ranging in size from 50k to 3m (GBP)
  • Proven experience in managing diverse teams
  • Ability to add value to the wider business as part of the Senior Management Team
  • Experience in software Project Management (Waterfall and Agile)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with professionals of all organisational levels
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and problem-solve
  • Experience working successfully across cultures beneficial
  • Domain knowledge of the Railway Industry would be preferred
  • Highly numerate
  • Excellent presentation skills
