Joining Arup
Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
The Opportunity
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a safety professional to join our H&S team, supporting safety due diligence and improvement projects across the infrastructure sector. You will work on diverse global assignments, advising on investments in renewable energy, transport, infrastructure, and digital assets.
Based in Manchester (preferable) or London, this role involves close collaboration with Arup's UK and global offices, drawing on local expertise to deliver tailored advice to international clients. Therefore, there will be opportunities for travel within Europe and occasionally further afield.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
We are seeking a Health & Safety professional to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead and support health and safety due diligence projects, helping investors and clients understand critical risks, opportunities, and regulatory requirements associated with assets and operations. You will also support larger H&S improvement pieces.
You will review asset data, management systems, and performance metrics, working closely with technical and commercial specialists to provide clear, practical recommendations. The role will also involve supporting the development of H&S maturity assessments, operational improvements, and strategic initiatives.
As part of a collaborative team, you will represent Arup in meetings, contribute to proposals, and share knowledge to drive business development and thought leadership. Opportunities for growth can include engaging with clients, delivering bigger H&S pieces and work‑winning, alongside peers.
Requirements and Skills
- A background in Health & Safety, ideally within a consultancy or operational environment. Experience across sectors such as Energy, Utilities, Transport, Renewables or Digital would be a preference.
- Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practice.
- Proven experience in due diligence, risk analysis and management system reviews.
- Ability to interpret complex technical issues and communicate them effectively to clients and stakeholders, including project management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
What We Offer You
At Arup, we care about each member's success, so we can grow together. Guided by our values, we provide an attractive total reward package that recognises the contribution of each of our members to our shared success. As well as competitive, fair and equitable pay, we offer a career in which all of our members can belong, grow and thrive – through benefits that support health and wellbeing, a wide range of learning opportunities and many possibilities to have an impact through the work they do.
We also provide private medical insurance, life assurance, accident insurance and income protection cover. In addition, you'll have access to flexible benefits to help you look after all aspects of your wellbeing and give you the freedom and flexibility to find the best solutions for you, your family, and your individual needs.
