Overview

We are looking for an HR Officer to support the Senior HR Business Partner in delivering a high quality, efficient, and people-centred HR service. You will provide essential administrative support across all areas of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to L&D and HR data management. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their HR career who wants to grow in a values-led, resident-focused housing organisation.

Main accountabilities

  • Support the Senior HR Business Partner with recruitment administration, onboarding and leaver process following JMB’s policies and HR best practice.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, and HR documentation in line with data protection legislation (GDPR).
  • Input and update staff data to support monthly payroll and ensure timely communication with the finance team.
  • Monitor sickness, leave, and absence data, helping to ensure processes are followed and reports are up to date.
  • Assist in the coordination of learning and development activities, including scheduling courses and tracking attendance.
  • Respond to general HR queries from staff, referring complex matters to the Senior HR Business Partner.
  • Manage the HR inbox and Recruitment inbox and respond to queries in a timely manner, escalating when necessary.
  • Support the production of routine HR reports as required, including turnover, absence, and training statistics.
  • Help ensure HR policies, procedures, and templates are accessible, well-maintained, and reflect current best practice.
  • Contribute to staff engagement and wellbeing initiatives, working with colleagues to build a positive organisational culture.

The postholder will work closely with the Senior HR Business Partner to support the delivery of day-to-day HR operations. As part of the Corporate Services team, the HR Assistant plays a key role in ensuring that recruitment, onboarding, payroll support, and general HR administration are carried out efficiently and in line with best practice and JMB’s values. This is a hands-on role within a small, collaborative team, offering exposure to a wide range of HR activities in a resident-led housing organisation.

What we are looking for

  • CIPD level 3 or currently working towards it.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a HR team.
  • Strong organisational skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Confident in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable working with digital systems.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn in a supportive environment.
