Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to develop understanding of Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending while protecting officer safety. This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training, promote the use and benefits of Memex, and improve the quality of intelligence submitted.
You will provide face‑to‑face training to area staff on our Intelligence system, MEMEX, and provide support to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches. You will supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions, create entities from Memex submissions, and provide regular reports on performance with feedback on ways to improve. You will ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions. Other duties that are commensurate with the role.
Responsibilities
- Provide Memex training to area teams and promote the use and benefits of MEMEX.
- Provide support and training to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
- Supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions.
- Create entities from Memex submissions.
- Provide regular reports on performance and feedback to improve performance.
- Maintain high standards of quality in intelligence submissions.
- Undertake other duties commensurate with the role.
Experience / Skills Required
- A good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems.
- Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
- Excellent influencing skills, ensuring Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory.
- Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships.
- Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on how to improve intelligence submission performance.
- Strong self-management and organisational skills.
- Great teamwork to support colleagues in achieving common goals.
Location, Travel & Working Arrangements
Location is flexible with a mixture of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices where staff are based will be required on occasions.
Other Information
- Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October.
- Security vetting checks (SC and NPPV3) will be required.
