Overview

As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Memex training to area staff and promote the use and benefits of Memex to improve the quality of intelligence submissions.
  • Provide face-to-face training on the Intelligence system MEMEX and support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
  • Supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions.
  • Create entities from Memex submissions.
  • Provide regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance.
  • Ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions.
  • Carry out other duties commensurate with the role.
  • Respond to incidents as required, with potential additional payment and full training; alternative working arrangements may be available to support your incident role.

Team and Environment

The Intelligence Team manages and develops all criminal intelligence for the Environment Agency, building strong relationships with partners to drive an intelligence-led approach to tackling environmental crime.

Experience / Skills Required

  • Self-motivated and proactive applicants who can demonstrate:
  • A good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems
  • An ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams
  • Excellent influencing skills, ensuring Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory
  • Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on ways to improve intelligence submission performance
  • Strong self-management and organisational skills
  • Great teamwork to support colleagues in achieving common goals

Location, Working Arrangements and Requirements

  • Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions.
  • Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October.
