Overview

Intelligence Technical Officer within the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit. You will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems to better understand Threat, Risk and Harm and improve approaches to tackling environmental offending and safeguarding officers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex; improve the quality of intelligence submissions.
  • Deliver face-to-face training to area staff on the Intelligence system, MEMEX.
  • Support and train area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
  • Supervise intelligence logs to ensure high-quality submissions.
  • Create entities from Memex submissions.
  • Provide regular performance reports and feedback on improvements.
  • Ensure high standards of quality in intelligence submissions.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the role.
  • Support flexible working patterns; clearly indicate preferred working arrangements in your application.
  • Respond to incidents as part of the role, with potential additional payment and full training; alternative working arrangements available.
  • Engage with the Intelligence Team to drive an intelligence-led approach across partnerships and regimes.

Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and proactive with a good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems.
  • Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
  • Excellent influencing skills; promotion of Memex use and mandatory safety checks.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training.
  • Excellent communication skills for feedback and performance improvement.
  • Strong self-management, organizational skills and teamwork.

Location, Travel and Working Arrangements

  • Location is flexible with mixed home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions.
  • Interviews via Microsoft Teams; expected in October.
