We are seeking an Intelligence Technical Officer within the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit. You will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems to develop an understanding of Threat, Risk and Harm and improve approaches to tackling environmental offending and protecting officer safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Memex training to area staff and promote the use and benefits of Memex, improving the quality of intelligence submissions.
  • Deliver face-to-face training on the Intelligence system MEMEX.
  • Provide support and training to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
  • Supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions.
  • Create entities from Memex submissions.
  • Provide regular performance reports and feedback on ways to improve performance.
  • Ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the role.

The Team

The Intelligence Team manages and develops all criminal intelligence for the Environment Agency. It is made up of several roles and disciplines, building strong relationships with partners to work as one enforcement community and drive an intelligence-led approach to tackling environmental crime across regimes. The team provides a professional and timely service and focuses on continuously improving how we work to meet customers’ needs.

Experience/Skills Required

  • Self-motivated and proactive; able to demonstrate the following:
  • Good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems.
  • Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
  • Excellent influencing skills; ensuring Memex use is standard and safety checks are mandatory.
  • Ability to build strong, effective relationships.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective, and inclusive training.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback to improve intelligence submission performance.
  • Strong self-management and organizational skills.
  • Great teamwork to support colleagues in achieving common goals.

Contact and Additional Information

You will need to be comfortable with a dispersed team. Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working, but travel to Birmingham and other offices where staff are based will be required on occasions.

Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October.
