Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.
This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted. You will provide face to face training to area staff on our Intelligence system, MEMEX, and support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches. You will supervise intelligence logs to ensure high standards of quality in submissions and create entities from Memex submissions. You will provide regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance and ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions. Other duties commensurate with the role.
Responsibilities
- Provide Memex training to area teams and promote the use and benefits of MEMEX.
- Improve the quality of intelligence submitted and support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
- Provide face-to-face training on MEMEX and ensure area teams can effectively submit intelligence and perform searches.
- Supervise intelligence logs to maintain high submission quality.
- Create entities from Memex submissions.
- Provide regular performance reports and feedback to improve performance.
- Maintain high standards of intelligence submission quality.
- Contribute to other duties commensurate with the role.
Experience / Skills Required
- Good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems.
- Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed across teams.
- Excellent influencing skills; ensuring Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory.
- Ability to build strong, effective relationships.
- Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on ways to improve intelligence submission performance.
- Strong self-management and organisational skills.
- Great teamwork to support colleagues in achieving common goals.
Other Information
You will need to be comfortable with working in a dispersed team. Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions. Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October. We welcome applications from groups under-represented across our workforce and are committed to diversity and inclusion.
