Overview

As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.

This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted. Providing face to face training to area staff on our Intelligence system, MEMEX. Providing support and training to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches. Supervising intelligence logs to ensure high standard of quality in submissions. Creating entities from Memex submissions. Providing regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance. Ensuring high standards of quality of intelligence submissions. Other duties that are commensurate with the role.

The team: The Intelligence Team manage and develop all criminal intelligence for the Environment Agency. Made up of several roles and disciplines, we build and maintain strong relationships with our partners to work as one enforcement community and drive our intelligence-led approach to tackling environmental crime across many regimes. The team provide a professional and timely service and are focussed on continuously improving how we do things to make sure our outcomes meet our customers’ needs.

  • A good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems
  • An ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed across teams
  • Excellent influencing skills, ensuring Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory
  • Success in building strong, effective relationships
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on ways to improve intelligence submission performance

Therefore, you will not be eligible for continuous service. Notes: Security vetting checks (SC and NPPV3) will be required. Note that we are not able to support visa applications for this role. Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October. Location is flexible with some travel to Birmingham and other offices as needed.
