Job Title: Intelligence Technical Officer, Environment Agency – National Environmental Crime Unit

The role focuses on building confidence and capability in intelligence-led ways of working across area teams, using intelligence systems to understand Threat, Risk and Harm, and driving improved approaches to tackling environmental offending while protecting officer safety.

Overview

This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing MEMEX training, promoting the use and benefits of Memex, and improving the quality of intelligence submissions. You will deliver face-to-face training on Memex, support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches, supervise intelligence logs to ensure high-quality submissions, create entities from Memex submissions, and provide regular performance reports with improvement feedback. You will help maintain high standards of intelligence quality and undertake other duties commensurate with the role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Memex training to area staff and promote its use and benefits.
  • Deliver face-to-face training on the Intelligence system MEMEX.
  • Support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
  • Supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of submissions.
  • Create entities from Memex submissions.
  • Provide regular performance reports and feedback to improve performance.
  • Maintain high standards of quality in intelligence submissions.
  • Respond to incidents and be available to provide business continuity support during incidents (may attract additional payment and full training).

Experience / Skills Required

  • Good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems.
  • Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
  • Excellent influencing skills; ensure MEMEX use and safety checks are mandatory.
  • Experience building strong, effective relationships.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective, and inclusive training.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on intelligence submission performance.
  • Strong self-management and organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to support colleagues to achieve common goals.

Location and Working Arrangements

Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working. Travel to Birmingham and other offices may be required on occasion. We support smarter ways of working and welcome information about preferred working arrangements on the application.
