Overview

The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) role is vital to the effective running of flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and the wider business. You will join a MEICA team to prioritise, plan and deliver maintenance or replacement of assets, enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment. You will work closely with external contractors to develop a world class asset management organisation and help address the challenges of climate change.

The role provides strong technical leadership to assure MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements across diverse geographic areas and assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for MEICA activity and act as the technical lead within the team.
  • Prioritise, plan and deliver maintenance or replacement of critical assets to support flood protection objectives.
  • Monitor quality and advise on requirements to meet specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal and environmental standards.
  • Liaise with a wide range of business partners and external contractors; work with the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers to drive actions on behalf of the team.
  • Support incident response and contribute to flood incident management as part of the team.
  • Offer technical mechanical support and direction to other team members.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering-related statutory legislation, British and European standards.
  • Experience leading safety investigations and disseminating learning to improve engineering and behavioural safety.
  • Knowledge and experience of Root Cause Analysis, reliability engineering, process improvement, technical leadership, and writing/reviewing technical specifications.
  • Educated to at least HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate mechanical discipline.
  • Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
  • Professional registration at I-Eng or C-Eng is preferred but not essential.

Location and Working Arrangements

You can be based at listed locations with occasional hybrid homeworking and site visits. A full UK driving licence is essential for the role.
