People Partner (Maternity Cover) at Unily

Unily is looking for a People Partner on a 12-14 month maternity contract. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this role is broad and focuses on both operational and strategic HR initiatives. You will partner with business leaders to support employees, working with recruitment, talent development and employee communications to deliver an excellent employee experience and to support the People strategy. The role includes overseeing HR administration, benefits, payroll-related activities with finance, employment documentation, policies and compliance. You will also manage a People Operations Associate.

The ideal candidate will have strong generalist HR experience and, ideally, business partnering experience. The role requires clear communication with a wide range of stakeholders and the ability to balance operational and strategic work. The role operates on a hybrid model (minimum 2-3 days in the office per week) with offices in London and Eashing, Surrey.

Main Responsibilities

  • Main point of contact for leaders and managers in core functions for all HR matters, both responsive and proactive
  • Coach leaders on Employee Relations matters, including redundancies, grievances, disciplinaries and performance improvement plans
  • Partner with business leaders and Finance to support workforce planning, organisational design and team structuring
  • Support organisational change initiatives with clear communication, stakeholder alignment and employee engagement
  • Maintain fluency with standard HR methodologies relating to performance, and talent development
  • Oversee employee documentation, including Employee Handbook, policies and contracts
  • Ensure HR compliance with employment laws and best practices, supporting audits and risk management
  • Oversee rewards and benefits administration, including liaising with brokers and insurers
  • Manage a People Operations Associate and provide guidance to ensure a great UK office environment
  • Contribute to the People leadership team and help implement Unily’s People strategy
  • Collaborate with People team colleagues to influence culture and engagement
  • Use HR data and system insights to inform decisions and drive process improvements for efficiency and employee experience
  • Support DEI initiatives by embedding inclusive practices across the employee lifecycle

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as an HR generalist
  • Ideally 2-3 years of HR business partner experience
  • Analytical and goal-oriented
  • Experience with HR metrics
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices
  • CIPD level 5 qualification or degree or relevant experience
