Overview

We have a vacancy for a Portfolio Manager to become an integral part of our training and education team and be responsible for developing the curriculum of our public digital learning course portfolio. The role is based in London (240 Blackfriars office).

Applicants will ideally be experienced course producers/authors with a good grounding in production methodology and processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for the research and development of commercially successful digital learning courses for the maritime sector, at levels from professional development to academic postgraduate. This is a highly responsible and challenging position, working to tight deadlines and targets, with great rewards and career development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze trends and developments impacting the sector that can be converted into digital learning course topics.
  • Identify and prioritise topics for digital learning course development.
  • Assess the commercial feasibility of topics and conduct in-depth market research with key industry stakeholders and potential learners.
  • Conceptualise and design compelling digital learning programmes through desk research and meetings with industry specialists.
  • Write, edit and present course information in clear English and align with the agreed style, ensuring information is well organized.
  • Articulate course objectives and expectations clearly.
  • Build a strong network of industry alliances and stay updated on developments; contact potential course faculty.
  • Manage partnerships to grow the portfolio with partners.
  • Identify and contract authors to produce programme content.
  • Collaborate with instructional design to determine appropriate format and interactivity for courses.
  • Work with marketing and sales to coordinate course marketing, communications and sales plans.

Qualifications

  • Proven research skills using primary and secondary information sources to analyse education and training needs.
  • Proven instructional and programme design expertise to structure an online course, develop learning outcomes and the syllabus with subject matter experts.
  • Ability to create work schedules and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong ability to write and evaluate syllabuses and course content with clear structure.
  • Attention to detail in copy editing, reviewing and formatting training materials written by authors.
  • Experience exploring and developing industry-academic collaborations.
  • Ability to apply insights from emerging learning trends (multi-modal delivery, micro-credentials, industry certification, executive education, etc.) to growth plans.
  • Exceptional writing skills with clarity, accuracy and creativity.
  • Subject knowledge in maritime subjects is highly beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate colleagues, partners and clients at all levels.
  • Degree educated or equivalent with an excellent academic track record is preferred.
