Join to apply for the Recruitment Officer role at LIS: The London Interdisciplinary School
Overview
The challenges humanity is facing aren’t the stuff of dystopia, science fiction, or textbooks. They’re happening today – and they’ve never been more complex and interconnected. The next generation is demanding to learn in a different way. LIS is a start-up university that equips learners with an interdisciplinary toolkit to tackle the complex, real-world problems of the 21st century. With a world-class faculty and partnerships with global organisations, LIS is building a new type of education for those who want to shape the world, not just fit in. LIS is the first new UK education institution for 50 years to have full degree-awarding power since inception, offering undergraduate, masters, and professional development programmes that take a groundbreaking interdisciplinary approach to education.
Role Summary
The purpose of this role is to identify, support, and, ultimately, convert leads across our portfolio of programmes (BASc, MASc, LIS MBA) into applicants and enrolees. The skills you will develop in this role include customer service, consultative sales, managing email sends, organising data in our CRM systems, and much more. You’ll also be able to help shape the strategy as you grow our core student numbers, expand international recruitment efforts, and grow our portfolio of programmes. This role offers a great step into the life of startups.
Recruitment Principles
- High touch – we will be in regular contact with qualified contacts, understanding their motivations, barriers, and personal context.
- Human centric – we will take an individualized approach to engagement, favouring personalised connection over automated outreach.
- Focused – we will concentrate resources on contacts with the highest likelihood of joining the cohort.
- Agile – we will be flexible in our approach, learning fast and pivoting tactics when required.
- Community driven – we will amplify our efforts by engaging the whole LIS community – staff, students, faculty, alumni, prospects, and partners.
Key Responsibilities
- 1:1 outreach to leads across the portfolio of programmes via telephone, email, and face-to-face activities.
- Lead scoring of potential applicants/students to prioritise leads, assess the health of the pipeline, and inform marketing tactics.
- Act as the primary point of contact for some offer-holders, building individual relationships, keeping them updated on programme information, and answering questions.
- Leverage existing students for insights, event support, and community building (e.g. buddy system).
- Represent the portfolio at internal and external events, including potential international travel.
- Contribute to marketing of the portfolio, including development of the LIS website, prospectuses, and digital communications.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Have an understanding of UK student recruitment; international experience is a plus.
- Be comfortable communicating across different mediums, including over the phone, email, video, and face-to-face.
- Be an inspiring and credible ambassador, comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders across sectors and articulating LIS’s vision and value proposition.
- Able to prioritise opportunities in a fast-moving, start-up style environment.
- Be a natural relationship builder who thrives on creating meaningful connections.
- Demonstrate a proactive and resourceful mindset, bringing creativity and a passion for innovation to the role.
- Align deeply with LIS’s values: rigour, curiosity, courage, compassion, and meraki.
We value growth mindset and action over years of experience. If you are excited about our mission and believe you can thrive in this role, we want to hear from you.
