About the role

We are seeking an energetic, ambitious Sales and Business Development Representative to join our sales team. This hybrid role blends lead generation, qualification, and early-stage client engagement with business development support to progress opportunities through the sales pipeline. You will be instrumental in building our market presence, particularly for Umbrella, CIS, and Outsourced Payroll services, by proactively reaching out to potential clients, qualifying leads, and supporting senior sales executives in securing new business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Generation & Qualification

  • Identify and research new prospects using outbound channels.
  • Qualify inbound leads and nurture them until they are sales-ready.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed CRM records.

Business Development Support

  • Assist in preparing client proposals, bids, and sales presentations.
  • Follow up with prospects at the mid-funnel stage to maintain interest.
  • Collaborate on account growth opportunities.

Outreach & Relationship Building

  • Engage decision-makers to understand their payroll needs.
  • Deliver compelling sales messaging across multiple channels.
  • Arrange discovery calls, meetings, and demos.
  • Align with marketing campaigns and promotional activity.
  • Partner with senior sales staff for smooth lead handover.
  • Produce regular performance and activity reports.
  • Track competitor offerings and industry trends.
  • Share insights to inform sales strategies.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven B2B sales, lead generation, or business development experience.
  • Strong communication, persuasion, and rapport-building skills.
  • Confident with outbound prospecting and cold calling.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce or HubSpot.
  • Ability to articulate complex payroll services simply and persuasively.
  • Organised and proactive in managing multiple opportunities.
  • Payroll, HR, or financial services sector experience.
  • Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance.
  • Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
