This role can be based in one of our offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Perth with the flexibility of hybrid working between one of these locations and home.
Your new role, what's involved?
- Manage and coordinate the technical delivery of land and consents projects whilst being a trusted advisor for our clients for large infrastructure projects in the Energy, Renewables, Road and Rail sectors.
- Support the writing of bids/tenders to secure opportunities from internal and external clients. Lead on and contribute to business development and client relationship management (externally and internally).
- The role will involve client-facing activities where you will represent the business at Senior Land Consultant level on projects.
- Support in motivating the team in Edinburgh/Glasgow/Perth ensuring that the team has the necessary support and training when delivering projects.
- Experience of training, mentoring or transferring technical knowledge to junior colleagues and the ability to undertake detailed technical assurance of other colleagues’ work. Ability to (and evidence of) assuring work deliverables prior to formal issue to Client.
- Manage the delivery of land access, landowner engagement and consenting / statutory processes relative to projects based in Scotland, such as CPO and Vesting Orders.
- You will have commercial awareness with an understanding of budget, scope, change control and other project management activities, including identification of project risks to the project owner. Strong programme / resource management is essential – and evidence of programme management will be required.
YOUR TEAM
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of WSP’s Land team in the delivery of land referencing, land acquisition, land access, formal consents, statutory orders and landowner engagement.
Our Scotland Region is currently made up of land consultants, property specialists, and utility / topographical surveyors working across our Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth offices. We work closely with over 200 Land colleagues across the UK and Ireland delivering land services on a variety of projects across the energy, water, road, rail and active-travel sectors.
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Successfully led a technical team of land consultants to deliver land consenting or land assembly services on infrastructure projects. Experience of projects in Scotland / Scottish land ownership information would be beneficial but not essential.
- Knowledge and experience of Scotland and UK statutory consent requirements, such as a Hybrid Bill, DCO, CPO, and Vesting Orders as well as an understanding of the land and property industry would be beneficial
- Good commercial awareness with an understanding of budget, scope, change control and other project management activities.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment on major infrastructure projects in multi-disciplinary teams
- Evidence of leading teams to deliver complex work.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills and ability to liaise at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Confidence and experience in providing technical advice to clients.
- Highly motivated and with good industry network.
- Enthusiasm for continuous professional development, and professional accreditation.
- A full UK driving licence is required.
- General IT skills, Microsoft Office suite including Teams, and basic skills with GIS/mapping tools.
