Your team

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of WSP’s Land team delivering land referencing, land acquisition, land access, formal consents, statutory orders and landowner engagement. Our Scotland Region includes professionals across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth, collaborating with over 200 Land colleagues across the UK and Ireland on energy, water, road, rail and active-travel projects. We are the largest Land Referencing business in the UK, with recent high-profile projects including A9 Dualling, SSEN and various onshore renewables.

You will combine office, home and on-site working to ensure the validity, accuracy and auditability of information collected, working with a team of Land Consultants to identify, notify, engage, gain access to lands and secure required consents with landowners affected by infrastructure projects. We work locally in Scotland and nationally with other WSP teams, using our in-house land information and consultation databases and GIS with a focus on innovation and quality.

Our colleagues come from diverse backgrounds and skill sets, including Estate Management, Forestry, Agriculture, Project Management, Liaison Officers, Site Supervision, Land Agency and more, to provide a full skillset for our clients.

What we look for

  • Successfully led a technical team of land consultants to deliver land consenting or land assembly services on infrastructure projects. Experience in Scotland / Scottish land ownership information would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Knowledge and experience of Scotland and UK statutory consent requirements (e.g., Hybrid Bill, DCO, CPO, Vesting Orders) and an understanding of the land and property industry.
  • Good commercial awareness with understanding of budget, scope, change control and other project management activities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on major infrastructure projects in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Evidence of leading teams to deliver complex work.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with ability to liaise at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Confidence and experience in providing technical advice to clients.
  • High motivation and strong industry network.
  • Enthusiasm for continuous professional development and professional accreditation.
  • A full UK driving licence is required.
  • General IT skills, Microsoft Office suite including Teams, and basic GIS/mapping tools.
