Senior Legal Counsel

Overview

Large national business with a turnover of £1bn seeks a Senior Legal Counsel to join and lead on commercial legal matters and manage a small team. Role can be full-time or part-time (ideally 4 days per week). Reporting to the General Counsel, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the commercial legal team and advising the business on commercial legal matters.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day commercial legal activities and lead a small team
  • Draft and negotiate: commercial agreements including large outsourcing projects, supply of services agreements, technology contracts, and customer contracts
  • Support marketing and digital strategy including data protection projects
  • Address compliance issues
  • Lead on legal/business system development

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experienced commercial lawyer with solid experience in commercial contracts
  • Willing to develop in a broad range of work including data protection; data protection experience is beneficial
  • Open to mid-level lawyers stepping up to a more senior role or an experienced lawyer seeking a change

Employment Type and Working Pattern

  • Full-time or part-time (ideally 4 days per week equivalent)
