POSITION OVERVIEW

Working within the SEGA West Publishing, EMEA Central Marketing team, you’ll be expected to take a leading role in the development and execution of global and EMEA focused PR campaigns for SEGA’s stable of games. This would include products from across SEGA’s rich portfolio of IP, which include but are not limited to Sonic the Hedgehog, Football Manager, Persona, Total War and Like A Dragon.

You will be required to work closely with the SOE comms team, in addition to other commercial departments both internally, at SEGA Europe’s studios and at SEGA of America. Of particular importance will be collaboration with studio brand teams, respective SEGA Europe product managers the community team and the SEGA of America marketing and PR teams.

Your core responsibilities will include managing, developing and executing global PR strategy for AAA releases from SEGA’s Europe-led, West Studios, and the development and execution of EMEA PR campaigns for SEGA of America led brands. You will use your experience and leadership skills to help with the development and support of more junior team members. The role will also entail direct media relations, pitching, event support and execution, and reporting.

We’re looking for an experienced, personable, credible, well-organised individual with strong entrepreneurial spirit and a creative streak. This position will also require domestic and international travel to attend industry and consumer events, join meetings and visit studios in the future.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Play a key role in developing and implementing PR strategy for the Europe-led West Studios projects you are responsible for, being the PR project point person for all executing markets.
  • Develop and execute EMEA PR strategies for SEGA of America products you are responsible for, being the EMEA point person for all executing markets.
  • Be the point of contact for UK media on the titles you are responsible for and develop strong media relationships.
  • Play a key role in the expansion of key franchises into emerging and established EMEA markets.
  • Work practically and effectively within a cost-effective budget structure.
  • Work very closely with the SEGA Europe Central Marketing team and SEGA of America Brand teams, including Product Managers, the Community teams and PR teams to maintain a synchronised team approach.
  • Establish a strong working relationship with your assigned West Studios teams and SEGA of America brand teams to ensure timely asset delivery and code distribution.
  • Present frequent well-rounded media and influencer pitches to the table and use your experience and expertise to help develop these skills in more junior members of the team.
  • Ensure strong, regular communication to all internal teams with clear updates.
  • Plan and organize press events for relevant titles where required, to ensure maximum coverage for key campaign beats.
  • Collate and distribute internal reports regularly to management, brand and product teams regarding coverage/press feedback.
  • Work with external PR agencies as required by territory.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A passion for and understanding gaming is important.
  • Extensive experience working in a games PR environment, either agency or in-house, or the equivalent experience working in the media as a gaming journalist.
  • Outstanding existing relationships with UK press and in-depth working knowledge of the media landscape.
  • Ability to work as part of a small and busy team.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and previous experience running AAA PR campaigns in the gaming space.
  • A creative thinker with great pitching and writing skills.
  • Excellent project management & PR planning skills.
  • Knowledge of competitor products within the industry.
  • Impeccable communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong reporting skills.
