Role Purpose: As the Senior Product Manager for the Stores Domain, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the retail experience for both colleagues and customers. Your mission is to drive impactful change by ensuring that technology investments translate seamlessly into meaningful enhancements in our stores. Whether it's optimising checkouts, streamlining order processes, or empowering our 20,000 store colleagues with cutting-edge tools, you will be at the forefront of making every customer count. In this role, you will shape the future state of our stores by collaborating with Product, Group Platform, Infrastructure, and Hardware teams. You'll define and champion a 2+ year product vision, develop measurable OKRs, and stay ahead of industry trends. You'll drive a customer-first, speed-to-value product culture, integrating technology, design, and product for rapid delivery. As a leader, you'll embody B&Q values, foster high performance, and create an inclusive, supportive environment, coaching your team in innovative, data-driven, cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Owning your domain strategy: Working with your team and business stakeholders to define the 2+ years out product vision and strategy for your domain area aligned to the business horizon plan and in concert with other domain areas.
  • Act as a champion for your plan; bringing stakeholders along with you.
  • Develop clear measurable OKRs with your business stakeholders that act as proof points and focus areas for your teams to deliver your strategy.
  • Stay close to industry trends and competitor moves to keep your plan/execution at the cutting edge of the market.
  • Understand your domain area with great clarity and continued curiosity; technology stack, customer behaviour, metrics, qualitative feedback.
  • Driving a product culture: Bring 'customer first' and 'speed to value' thinking into the way the business makes decisions and prioritises.
  • Act as an agent of change to help drive product-led ways of working in our teams and stakeholders, including bringing technology, design and product together to drive speed to value.
  • Key member of the Product Chapter; adding your expertise to the broader community and supporting others.
  • Stay close to our customers using a variety of qualitative and quantitative tools.
  • Robust delivery: Understanding and driving the flow of work through delivery teams.
  • Prioritise delivery with clear alignment to product strategy, outcomes and OKRs.
  • Proactively manage team resources, quality standards, delivery timelines and risks in your domain across B&Q and Group teams.
  • Lead complex multi-team delivery.
  • Team leadership: As a leader in our business you'll be an active part of the culture of the business and represent B&Q values and product culture in your team and the wider Tech community.
  • Drive high performance and engagement of your team through regular 1 to 1s and quarterly check-ins.
  • Support the development of the individuals in your team through regular conversations, a shared development plan and active coaching.
  • Create an inclusive environment, engaging team through open and fair leadership which inspires and supports others.
  • Coaching of your team and others in product ways of working including design thinking, innovation, making data-led decisions, working cross-functionally and stakeholder management.
  • Experience with in-store operations and associated Digital Products, and technology is desirable.
  • In-depth experience of digital product management, governance models and delivery frameworks.
  • Strong overall knowledge of application capabilities, integration, development methodologies and industry best practices.
  • Experience of significant transformation leadership and management.
  • Good understanding of product design framework, methodologies and user research.
  • Well-seasoned strong communication and presentation skills at all levels of a business.
  • Track record of being a structured problem solver able to see, develop and focus on the bigger picture.
  • Experience of team and line management.
  • Working in an agile environment with matrix management.
  • Clear understanding of development frameworks, code management and operation of underlying infrastructure.
  • Knowledge and understanding of analytics and optimisation solutions.
  • Demonstrable evidence of building relationships and influencing across work levels, up to and including Board level.
  • Capable of representing B&Q at external events.
  • Be a product thought leader and help to embed a product culture in B&Q.
  • Comfortable navigating and simplifying ambiguity.
