Overview

Senior Project Manager role at AtkinsRéalis. UK based and willing to travel 2-3 days per week across the UK and Ireland to be involved in flagship projects. UK Transportation Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of major transportation infrastructure projects, delivering design services across Rail and Transit, Highways, Local Transport, and related sectors. This role is within the PDP Rail and Transit team, for an experienced Senior Project Manager looking to lead project delivery, influence the team’s growth, and progress toward a Project Director role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project leadership as a Senior Project Manager on large projects or as a Project Director on medium to small projects.
  • Ensure projects meet business revenue, profit and cash-flow targets and provide accurate reporting.
  • Lead the delivery team, which may include Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Design Managers.
  • Work with resource managers on forward planning to ensure adequate capacity to meet requirements.
  • Coordinate a common understanding of scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk and interfaces on projects.

Governance and Commercial

  • Ensure compliance with Client, Business Management, Governance, Technical, HSE and Quality requirements.
  • Manage project management and contract administration through the project life cycle.

Community and Development

  • Support the Project Management community to share best practice and ensure a consistent approach to delivery.
  • Mentor and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and other team members as required.

Client

  • Develop and maintain client relationships to support project delivery performance and maximise potential for project extensions and new work.
  • Support Regional Client Directors to shape and deliver Transportation Rail strategy for the region.
  • Provide bid leadership on selective pursuits, as Bid Manager for large projects or as Bid Director for medium to small projects, focusing on the deliverability of tendered works.

What You Can Bring

  • Significant experience of Project Manager roles on large-scale multidisciplinary UK infrastructure projects (greater than £5M design fees per annum) from a design perspective.
  • Experience in managing construction programmes and/or project management in the rail sector (e.g., with Network Rail, HS2 and principal contractors).
  • Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with clients to protect and meet AtkinsRéalis’ commercial objectives.
  • Good understanding of design procedures, change control, checking and review requirements.
  • Experience deploying various forms of construction contracts, in particular NEC3 or NEC4 and/or bespoke forms of contract.
  • Professional membership and recognized level of Project Management competence (e.g., MAPM, MICE, PMQ, ChPP, or equivalent) – desirable.
