McGregor Boyall is a logistics business based in central London, undergoing a major transformation to deliver a new multi‑SAAS platform that will underpin the future state architecture.

This 6‑month contract role (central London, 3‑to‑4 days onsite per week) will give you the opportunity to shape the future‑state architecture and ensure technology solutions directly support business goals such as improved efficiency, customer experience, scalability and innovation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Translate strategic business objectives into scalable, future‑ready architectural solutions.
  • Partner with business and product leaders to ensure technology decisions enhance business capability, value delivery, and time‑to‑market.
  • Provide architectural oversight on key projects, ensuring solutions are well‑designed, secure, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise strategy.
  • Champion standardisation and reuse across the solution landscape to reduce redundancy and increase agility.
  • Contribute to defining and enforcing architectural principles, technology standards and design patterns.
  • Lead architectural governance forums, reviewing and approving solution designs and ensuring consistency across the enterprise.
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring practical, outcome‑driven solutions.

Required skills and experience:

  • Multiple years of experience in solution architecture, design or technical leadership roles with a track record of delivering business‑focused technology solutions.
  • Experience working within logistics, heavy industry or businesses with significant physical assets (freight, oil & gas, shipping, aviation, engineering, etc.).
  • Strong ability to align technology strategies with business objectives in complex, multi‑system environments.
  • Expertise in SAAS, integration design and scalable architectures (e.g., microservices, APIs, event‑driven models).
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and explain complex architectural concepts in business‑relevant terms.
  • Deep understanding of the application lifecycle, broad understanding of cloud platforms (not a cloud architecture position) and modern delivery models (Agile, DevOps).
  • Experience in enterprise application portfolio management or rationalisation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks (TOGAF, ArchiMate) and modelling tools, and knowing when and how to deploy them.

McGregor Boyall is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on any grounds.
