Job Description Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Application Specialist to join the Digital Services Lab to bring technology expertise and vision. We're looking for a driven person with a real passion for technology, a commitment to growth and development and to protecting live service for customers. Enhancing the engineering experience and increasing pace is core aspect of our strategy to deliver great outcomes to our customers. Working in the Digital Services Lab, you’ll be enabling the Group’s ambition by enabling our Group to modernise its digital capabilities whilst serving our current digital demand. You\'ll help with providing the foundational capabilities that enable our business platform customers to modernise their Digital channels and journeys, through the modernisation of the monolithic code base, whilst providing a resilient, sustainable and performant platform.

Job Description

What You\'ll Be Doing

As a platform, our purpose is to enable smarter API & System of Engagement led innovation tomorrow while ensuring resilient Digital Services today, and we do this by providing and evolving a set of highly reusable digital products that enable platforms to build journeys outside of our current digital platform where they can operate change independently whilst maintaining resilience 24/7. In this role, as a Technical Application Specialist, you will be responsible for Internet Banking DB2, Batch and DataPower, enhancing the resilience of these application whilst supporting consumers to modernise their journeys to deploy their code independently. Your team will deliver key changes that will be critical for Digital Modernisation and enhance the overall engineering experience for our consumers. Day To Day Activities:

  • Working on changes for Internet Banking Batch and Db2 ensuring high quality delivery of tasks, stories via agile methodologies.
  • Supporting any incident resolution relating to Batch, and Db2.
  • Continually improving service stability and observability for Batch and Db2.
  • Raising changes on ServiceNow for Batch and Db2.
  • Collaborating with DataPower team and becoming an SME for Batch & Db2.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, engineers and developers, to deliver changes via our front door process
  • Foster an engineering culture of experimentation, learning and continuous innovation.

What Skills You’ll Need

  • Technology Expertise - Strong knowledge and expertise of Internet Banking Batch and IBDB2.
  • Software Engineering - Possess a deep understanding of the software lifecycle, ensuring high standards in design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Operational optimisation – experience with Run operations for highly available systems, including control automation, end to end system monitoring and observability
  • Service Sustainability & Incident Resolution - demonstrable experience of incident resolution, war room support and root cause identification.
  • Delivery - Experience in deploying changes into production for customers

Desirable Experience

  • Cloud Platform - Familiarity with the development of resilient systems on cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure or AWS.
  • Experience and knowledge of Foundation Server and F5
  • Experience and knowledge of DataPower
  • Experience of managing and designing end to end API services (preferably REST) and SDKs.
  • Experience of DevOps Pipeline optimisation and developing embedded and dynamic controls.
