2026 Graduate Programme - Energy - Networks

We are looking for graduates to join the Energy Networks (Transmission & Distribution) team. This is a two-year Graduate Development programme designed to support personal and professional development with a blended learning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering Design Support: assist senior engineers with the design of electrical and civil components for transmission and distribution projects, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cable routes.
  • Feasibility Studies: contribute to initial project assessments by conducting site surveys, analysing data, and helping identify effective and sustainable engineering solutions.
  • Technical Reporting: prepare and compile technical reports, drawings, and specifications documenting design choices, calculations, and project progress for clients such as National Grid.
  • Site Visits and Inspections: gain hands-on experience by visiting project sites to survey existing infrastructure, monitor construction progress, and ensure work meets specifications and safety standards.
  • Project Management Assistance: support project managers with scheduling, cost tracking, and risk assessment to help deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: assist in communications with clients, contractors and other stakeholders to coordinate project activities and address technical queries.
  • Continuous Learning: stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards and engineering technologies.

Projects

You would contribute to projects that support the UK’s energy transition, including integration of renewable energy sources and delivery of critical infrastructure. Examples include activities related to National Grid initiatives and other landmark projects in the energy sector.

Graduate Development Programme

Two-year development programme featuring core business and professional skills training, career development workshops and mentoring for professional registration, with on-the-job experience and networking opportunities.

What We Will Be Looking For

  • You’ll have graduated with at least a 2:2 in a master’s degree in a relevant subject.
  • Ability to start work in April or September 2026.
  • A passion for engineering and consulting and an interest in Energy Networks.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Willingness to contribute ideas and collaborate with a diverse team.
