2026 Graduate Programme - Energy - Networks

Overview

We are recruiting graduates for the Energy Networks (Transmission & Distribution) team. You will join a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory services consultancy, work in a collaborative environment, and contribute to a diverse range of projects for clients. Locations: Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle and London.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust power networks to support the integration of clean, renewable energy sources and enable a secure, sustainable energy supply.
  • Work on projects in transmission and distribution, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cable routes.
  • Support senior engineers and project managers with technical design, feasibility studies, reporting, site visits, scheduling, cost tracking and risk assessment.
  • Engage with stakeholders including clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate activities and address queries.
  • Contribute to continuous learning and apply latest industry standards and technologies.

Projects

  • Work on landmark projects such as National Grid’s Great Grid upgrade and other distribution network/operator initiatives.
  • Contribute to projects involving grid connections for large-scale battery energy storage systems and EV charging network growth.

Graduate Development Programme

The two-year programme supports personal and professional development through blended learning, core business and professional skills training, mentoring for professional registration and on-the-job experience. It includes opportunities to pursue chartered status with bodies such as ICE, IMechE and IET, with enrolment in a professional training agreement.

What We Will Be Looking For

  • Graduation with at least a 2:2 in a master’s degree in a relevant subject.
  • Application must be completed in full; an online skill enabler assessment will also be required. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
  • Available to start in April or September 2026.
  • Demonstrated passion for engineering and consulting, with an interest in Energy Networks and a creative problem-solving mindset.
