Overview
Business Manager, Pensions Investment Management. We have an exciting new opportunity for a Business Manager to join our Pensions Investment Management (PIM) team on a permanent basis, based in our London office (hybrid working).
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established UK pension funds. The Role
The purpose of the Business Manager, Pensions Investment Management is to partner with the Chief Officer, Pensions Investment Management (CoPIM), the Senior Business Manager for Pensions Investment Management and other key stakeholders to help run our Pensions Investment Management business. The role involves providing administrative and strategic support to senior leaders within PIM, including governance support. You will build effective working relationships across Railpen to share ideas and improve ways of working. This role requires an understanding of how the business operates, the perspectives of internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to proactively and strategically support BAU delivery as well as improve business resilience and flexibility.

The Person
The successful candidate will be able to support across diverse business disciplines, embrace complexity and have excellent skills in delivering clear communication. Being organized and adaptable to change is essential, as is understanding deadlines and priorities and managing time to ensure accuracy. The ability to work on your own initiative and think proactively is key, as well as having the courage to have a view on difficult business decisions.
You will play a key role in preparing, refining and proofreading meeting papers and following up on required actions. Experience of project planning, building relationships, engaging in strategic conversations and delivering against a business plan is important. Pensions industry experience is not essential, but a curiosity and understanding of the pensions regulatory environment is important, including awareness of regulatory, pensions, rail and investment developments that may impact Railpen and its stakeholders.
Our values of integrity, community and alignment guide our behaviour. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, place the needs of the community first, and, through a culture of fair challenge, align to the best interests of our members.
