Company Overview – HyKit
HyKit is pioneering the hydrogen power revolution. Our mission is to design and manufacture modular, agile infrastructure that stores, transports, and dispenses green hydrogen at the point of use. Our first product—a mobile hydrogen refueller—is being developed in partnership with JCB at our new Oxfordshire facility.
Role Overview
As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting hydrogen infrastructure systems across the UK. These include mobile refuelling stations, compressors, storage modules, and control systems. The role demands strong electrical and mechanical expertise, a safety-first mindset, and professionalism in customer-facing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- INSTALLATION & COMMISSIONING
- Install and commission hydrogen systems including mobile refuellers, compressors, and fixed HRS units.
- Perform system validation, pressure/leak testing, safety checks, and software configuration.
- Support commissioning of hydrogen production and distribution infrastructure.
- MAINTENANCE & REPAIR
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance across hydrogen systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
- Replace and calibrate components such as valves, sensors, fittings, and PLC-connected devices.
- CUSTOMER SUPPORT & TECHNICAL LIAISON
- Provide on-site technical support and guidance to customers and operators.
- Deliver basic user training and safety briefings.
- Represent HyKit professionally and gather feedback for product improvement.
- REPORTING & FEEDBACK
- Complete detailed service records, site visit reports, and maintenance logs.
- Escalate major issues with root cause analysis to engineering and operations teams.
- Contribute to design and procedural improvements based on field data.
Qualifications & Experience
- Required:
- Proven experience in field service, electrical maintenance, or system commissioning.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical systems (with mechanical understanding).
- Experience with high-pressure gases, hazardous environments, or industrial plant.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.
- Preferred:
- Experience with hydrogen systems (compressors, refuelling stations, storage tanks).
- Awareness of ATEX, DSEAR, COMAH or ISO 19880 standards.
- F-gas or hazardous area certification (advantageous).

Work Environment
Primarily field-based with regular UK travel. Overnight stays and flexible hours may be required. Includes time at Bicester HQ for training, planning, and collaboration.
