The Role

The role serves as the principal strategic and financial partner to the Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing financial matters with MCPS and leading a team of finance business partners. Responsibilities include managing financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and cost control for PRS and Joint Venture revenue streams through to distributions, as well as supporting the COO and Distribution Operations team in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Team context

The Commercial Finance Team in PRS for Music sits within the wider Finance team and partners across the business from Commercial to Membership Support to Legal. As a team of five, the Commercial Finance team analyses the monthly performance of the business from a revenue, costs and distributions basis, prepares monthly reporting packs for the Executive Leadership Team and PRS for Music’s Board. The team also leads the bi-annual forecast and annual budget process, challenging and supporting stakeholders to achieve goals in the five year plan.

Responsibilities

  • Team leadership and development: Identify development opportunities, manage employee engagement actions, promote inclusion and PRS values, and oversee the performance, motivation, and engagement of the Commercial Revenue Finance team
  • Financial controls and process improvement: Collaborate with finance teams to improve financial processes and systems, ensure financial controls, identify process improvement opportunities, and support monthly ELT sign-offs
  • MCPS financial management: Manage MCPS monthly reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, present financial results to the MCPS Board, ensure financial controls within business units, and oversee revenues and distributions
  • Strategic partnership: Act as a key financial and strategic partner to the Chief Commercial Officer, influencing decisions for revenues around £1.2 billion and costs of £120 million
  • Long-term financial planning: Lead long-term financial planning, produce management reports for senior leadership, and support budgeting and forecasting for distribution operations

The Process

  • First stage interview will take place virtually on MS Teams.
  • Second stage interview will take place in person at our London Bridge Hub.
