Our client, a leading Trade Association based in Southwark, Central London, is seeking a Head of Membership Engagement to join their team.

The Role of Head of Membership Engagement

Working under the direction of the Executive Director, the postholder will be responsible for developing and delivering membership engagement, recruitment, and retention strategies to ensure the organisation continues to:

• Deliver excellent support to members
• Ensure retention of current members
• Increase recruitment of new members

Duties and Responsibilities

• Review current approach to membership engagement, recruitment, and retention, and devise strategies to strengthen activities in these areas
• Build and maintain strong relationships with members at a senior level
• Identify prospective companies as potential members
• Develop and implement a membership growth strategy targeting prospective members across the UK, aiming for annual growth in all segments
• Establish contact and build relationships with existing and potential members at CEO/executive level
• Communicate the benefits of membership effectively
• Respond to queries regarding member benefits
• Devise and implement new processes and systems to enhance the member experience
• Represent members by creating feedback loops and collaborating with team members
• Design and execute an annual Membership Survey to monitor support effectiveness and identify improvement areas
• Manage new membership applications and renewals, coordinating with the Finance Director on membership rates and payment invitations
• Oversee the administration of member meetings, including minute-taking and action follow-up
• Promote activities and resources through channels such as the website, communications, and member resources

Person Specification – Knowledge and Experience

• Significant experience in growing membership and leading membership services in similar organisations
• Experience in developing and improving administrative processes
• Strong skills in strategic planning and business development
• Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills at CEO/executive level
• Experience managing and developing CRM databases
• Ability to network and work collaboratively across the organisation
• Willingness to attend events and meetings across England and Wales
