Overview

As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Memex training to area staff and promote the use and benefits of Memex to improve the quality of intelligence submissions.
  • Deliver face-to-face training on the Intelligence system MEMEX and support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
  • Supervise intelligence logs to ensure high-quality submissions and create entities from Memex submissions.
  • Provide regular reports on performance and feedback to improve performance and ensure high standards of intelligence submissions.
  • Respond to incidents as part of the team, with potential additional compensation and training; alternative working arrangements may be provided to support the incident role.
  • Support the Intelligence Team in managing and developing all criminal intelligence for the Environment Agency and work with partners to drive an intelligence-led approach across regimes.

Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • A good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems and the ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach across teams.
  • Excellent influencing skills to promote Memex use and mandatory safety checks.
  • Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships and deliver engaging, inclusive training.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback on intelligence submission performance.
  • Strong self-management and organizational skills and good teamwork to help colleagues achieve common goals.
  • Comfort with working in a dispersed team; flexible working patterns are welcome, with travel to Birmingham and other offices as needed.
  • Note on security/vetting: SC and NPPV3 vetting required; visa support is not provided.

Location: Flexible with some travel to offices in Birmingham and other staff bases as required.
