Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety. This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted. You will provide face to face training on our Intelligence system, MEMEX, and support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches while maintaining high standards of quality in submissions.
Responsibilities
- Provide face-to-face training to area staff on MEMEX and promote its use and benefits.
- Provide support and training to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
- Supervise intelligence logs to ensure high quality in submissions.
- Create entities from Memex submissions.
- Provide regular reports on performance and give feedback on ways to improve performance.
- Ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions.
- Carry out other duties commensurate with the role.
- Respond to incidents as part of a dispersed team, with the ability to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident (may attract additional payment and full training).
Team Context
The Intelligence Team manages and develops all criminal intelligence for the Environment Agency. It is made up of several roles and disciplines and works with partners to drive an intelligence-led approach to tackling environmental crime across regimes.
Experience and Skills
- A good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems.
- Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed it across teams.
- Excellent influencing skills to ensure Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory.
- Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships.
- Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on ways to improve intelligence submission performance.
- Strong self-management and organisational skills.
- Great teamwork to support colleagues in achieving common goals.
Additional Information
- You will need to be comfortable working in a dispersed team. Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices where staff are based will be required on occasions.
- Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October.
