OverviewAs an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems to understand Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protecting officer safety.This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training, promote the use and benefits of Memex, and improve the quality of intelligence submissions. You will deliver face-to-face training on MEMEX, provide support to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches, supervise intelligence logs to ensure high-quality submissions, and create entities from Memex submissions. You will also provide regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance.You will be expected to respond to incidents as part of a dispersed team, with potential additional payment and training, and alternative working arrangements to support your incident role.ResponsibilitiesProvide Memex training to area staff and promote the use and benefits of MEMEX.Support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches in MEMEX.Supervise intelligence logs to maintain high quality submissions.Create entities from Memex submissions.Provide regular performance reports and feedback for continuous improvement.Ensure high standards of quality in intelligence submissions.Respond to incidents as required, including business continuity support during incidents.Perform duties commensurate with the role and adapt to evolving requirements.Experience/Skills RequiredSelf-motivated and proactive with a good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems.Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed across teams.Excellent influencing skills to normalise MEMEX use and enforce safety checks.Strong relationship-building abilities.Ability to create and deliver engaging, inclusive training.Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback to improve intelligence submission performance.Strong self-management and organisational skills.Team-oriented approach to support colleagues in achieving goals.Location, Working Arrangements & TravelLocation is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions.Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected in October.We welcome flexible working patterns, including job share; please include any information on your preferred working arrangements.Security vetting checks (SC and NPPV3) will be required.We are not able to support visa applications for this role.Additional InformationWe are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce and reflect the communities we serve.
