Principal Air Quality Consultant role at RWDI

RWDI is seeking an exceptional individual with a minimum of 8–10 years of relevant work experience to support our UK Air Quality team based in one of our Brighton, London or Milton Keynes offices as Principal Consultant (internal title – Technical Lead).

Location: London, UK

Reporting To: Matthew Weston

Compensation: £50,000 - £65,000 / year

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Remote working is available for this role one day a week if desired.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading and managing some of the larger projects within the team
  • Planning and coordinating technical aspects of projects mainly in the United Kingdom
  • Supervising and assigning data collection, modelling, post-processing, analysis, interpretation, and documentation of technical results
  • Consulting with and answering technical questions from colleagues, project managers, and clients
  • Writing ES Chapters and technical reports
  • Assisting with the preparation of proposals, marketing materials and/or technical papers
  • Taking a lead technical role in internal and external project teams to ensure technical excellence and quality of analysis and reporting
  • Providing technical leadership to improve technical capability and capacity
  • Assisting in business development initiatives to support the air quality team
  • Contributing to RWDI’s global air quality practice initiatives and strategies, and sharing experiences and knowledge with internationally based colleagues
  • Monitoring, supporting and addressing performance of team members by conducting regular check-ins and performance reviews
  • Mentorship of Air Quality team members to support their development

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science disciplines
  • Full understanding of the current regulatory/planning framework/technical guidance in the United Kingdom for air quality assessments
  • Deep knowledge of air quality dispersion models (including ADMS-Roads, ADMS 6.0)
  • Proficient use of GIS (QGIS)
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering analytical tools, experience with ERP systems, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to act as the technical liaison between internal project teams, external clients, and regulators
  • As a minimum, full Membership and active involvement in the IES and the IAQM, and affiliations with other professional institutions relevant for air quality
