Contract Product Owner – Finance System (Outside IR35)

We need an experienced Product Owner to stand up a new finance system: set the vision, shape the roadmap, prioritise a supplier-focused backlog, define the comms plan, and establish minimum security standards and NFRs.

Responsibilities

• Define and socialise the product vision aligned to finance outcomes.
• Build and maintain the product roadmap with value-based releases and clear metrics.
• Create and run a prioritised backlog (epics → stories) with a strong supplier development focus (onboarding, data contracts, integrations, SLAs).
• Own the communication plan (stakeholder map, cadences, artefacts, decision log).
• Establish minimum security standards & NFRs (authN/Z, audit, encryption, privacy, resilience, performance SLOs, observability) with InfoSec/Architecture.
• Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning/reviews; manage risks, dependencies and delivery health.

Qualifications

• Proven PO experience across several finance projects (ERP/finance platforms, AP/AR, GL, procurement, invoicing, expenses, reporting).
• Bonus: broader PO background across digital systems (web, SaaS, data, integrations).
• Strong grasp of finance processes, data flows, and third-party integrations/APIs.
• Hands-on with roadmapping, value-based prioritisation (e.g., WSJF/MoSCoW), and crisp story writing with ACs/DoR/DoD.
• Comfortable defining and enforcing NFRs & security with engineering/InfoSec.
• Clear communicator; confident with senior stakeholders up to CFO.

Working pattern & compliance

• Hybrid: 4 days on-site per week.
• Outside IR35. Must have right to work in the UK.
