About the Business Unit

Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across built environment sectors, including climate, planning PMO, quality management and risk management. APD supports projects up to £20bn with services in programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management. Our specialist advisory teams offer transformational services to support client needs.

We are looking for talented risk management professionals to shape and safeguard complex Construction and Infrastructure projects across sectors such as Transport, Defence, Water, Buildings, and Energy.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake assurance reviews of risk deliverables and methodologies to confirm conformance to best practice
  • Inform development of Business Cases, Investment Decisions and Appraisals, including assuring the quality of risk evidence
  • Work as a consultant within a client environment, embedding risk expertise into client teams
  • Coach, develop and supervise project staff and share knowledge
  • Build strong relationships with clients, teams and stakeholders
  • Strong stakeholder management experience

Candidate specification

Essential

  • Demonstrate competency with implementing Risk Management processes aligned with ISO31000 / Institute of Risk Management / Association of Project Management methodologies on complex Construction and Infrastructure projects, including but not limited to:
  • Initiating, developing, and implementing risk management processes
  • Facilitating risk workshops as part of the risk process delivery
  • Conducting regular risk reviews to maintain a project risk register and ensure accuracy of the risk profile
  • Undertaking Quantitative Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis techniques
  • Producing risk management reports to inform decision making
  • Awareness of tools such as ARM, Xactium, Primavera Risk Analysis, SafranRisk, @Risk, Risk Predict
  • Understanding integration of risk management with other disciplines including cost estimating, project planning and contract administration
  • Implement effective risk management activities to reduce risk exposure and uncertainty
  • Support development and implementation of risk management approaches for clients
  • Facilitate workshops and engage with project teams to ensure effective risk management
  • Work closely with planners to understand delivery expectations and link risks to schedule activities

Desirable

  • Essential soft skills: effective listening, persuasion, collaborative style, leadership, flexibility, self-motivation, creativity
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft applications
